2009 AWC Gala Cancelled

Sadly, the worsening economic situation has made it impossible for AWC-Houston to garner sufficient sponsorship to hold the 2009 Gala as we had planned. Because the Gala is such a significant recognition and award program, the AWC Executive Committee decided that it better serves the interests of sponsors and award nominees that we cancel this year’s event rather than hosting a significantly reduced, and therefore disappointing, one. Instead of having a 2009 Gala, we will focus on raising funds and generating sufficient sponsorships to make the 2010 Gala a huge success.

Members of AWC Houston owe a huge debt of gratitude to Debra LeBlanc for herculean efforts toward the 2009 Gala.  Debra went far above and beyond her intended involvement in an effort to allow other women in technology to experience the honor and recognition that she earned as a 2008 AWC award recipient. Please let Debra know how much we all appreciate her work on behalf of our chapter.
